Actually, in numerous interviews, they cunningly answer this by not really answering this. They have stated that they Love Each Other. Whether that means that they are In Love -- well, we don't know. They Have Never Stated Outright That They are Lesbians. Some fans in the forum believe that the girls are so obscure about this issue for a couple of reasons: by nature of contract/management, or because they don't conform to society's labels and refuse to be recognized as such. Just remember we are talking about the same group. 'Taty' was the name the were under when they first formed and became public in Russia. 'Taty' is supposedly a wordplay on the phrase 'Ta Lyubit Tu' - roughly translating to 'She Loves Her'. 'Taty' is pronounced in english 'Tatu' (tatoo). Also, there is another possibility of the meaning of 'Taty'. Some say that in Russian, 'Taty' is short for the russian word for 'tattoo' which is 'tatyirovka'. Then, with the signing of contracts with Universal Music Russia and Interscope Records for their english-crossover, the gals learned that there already exists a band with their same name. So...you can't have two groups with the same name. Thus, the gals had to change their group name to the current 't.A.T.u.'. No one knows if this new name is an abbreviation for something. For now, most fans still prefer to call them 'Taty' or 'Tatu', but in fact, the gals themselves have pronounced their new name by spelling it out, letter for letter - 'T - A - T - U'. 5. 'Ya Ne Glotat' -- YES. This was a demo that Producer Ivan Shapovolov and Yulia were working on. Then, it got into the hands of pirates, and was spread like wildfire. So, I guess they figured, what's the point of releasing the song officially, when it's already out there and known? 'Bylo I Proshlo' - NO. From Lucette on the Forum: 'The band who sings the very Tatu-like "Bylo i Proshlo" is called "Russkii razmer" - they're a pop group from St. Petersburg who have been around since (roughly) 1994.' 'Flydream Scream' - YES. Actually it's a remix with the famous 'scream' by Yulia from the song 'Nas ne dogonyat' - you know the part where she screams out nas ne dogonyat? You'll hear it :) 'Propaganda Melom' - NO. According to Russian fan CJKitty, it's by a group called 'Propaganda' and the song is called 'Melom' 'Imperfect Girl' - NO. That's by the american group called 'Tatu' 'Da Ya Ne Svyataya' - NO. According to fellow fan YippeeJG, it may be from a group called 'Tayana'. 'Zavedi' - NO. WHAT'S THEIR ORIGINAL HAIR COLORS? Lena - is really a red-head Yulia - is really blonde 15. DO THEY WRITE THEIR OWN MUSIC? For their first album, the girls did not write any of their music or lyrics, but there was a team of lyricists and composers who were tasked to write specifically about the girls' relationship.
